Background
As agreed by the NAC at its meeting on July 14th, 2010, the NAC Working Group on the Communal Violence Bill, set up an Advisory Group and a Drafting Committee to develop a draft bill on communal and sectarian violence. It was decided that the bill shall be drafted on the basis of certain key elements accepted by the National Advisory Council.
After deliberations, the Working Group of the NAC placed a Draft Bill in public domain on May 25, 2011. Based on the feedback, the Working Group proposed certain amendments to the Draft Bill, which was considered by the NAC in its meeting held on 22 June, 2011. Amendments endorsed by the NAC were also subsequently placed in public domain.
